Forever materials - Another nerdy journey with the MOA podcast
A product lasting a lifetime is great, right? As a marketing headline, it sounds good, but when we dive into "forever materials," we learn that reality is more complicated. Join us for the second episode of our podcast to learn about the greatness of polymers and the issues they highlight in our society. As usual, Oliver, our Head of Research and Innovation, and Barnabas, our Brand and Marketing Manager, go on a nerdy journey to uncover some interesting facts.
Made of Air is an Unreasonable company!
We’re pleased to share that Made of Air has been selected as an Unreasonable company, joining a remarkable network of scale-ups dedicated to addressing the world’s most pressing challenges in impactful and profitable ways. We recently took the stage at the Unreasonable Impact World Forum in London, where our co-founder and CEO, Allison, delivered a powerful talk on the role of biochar in drastically reducing hard-to-abate emissions from materials.
HexAudi: A beautiful testament to sustainability
The built environment accounts for almost 40% of annual global CO2 emissions, with 10% coming alone from building materials. A true net-zero and a circular economy requires rapid decarbonization of the sector and Audi’s car dealership in Trudering, Bavaria, Germany, is a showcase of how this can be done.
Grease chemistry - The MOA podcast is here!
How are a piece of bread, exploding billiard balls, and electricity connected? The answer is one word: plastics. Our first season, and episode is all about the greasy science behind the highly influential material in our modern society. Join Oliver, our Head of Research and Innovation, and Barnabas, our Brand and Marketing Manager, in a nerdy after-hours deep dive into the science behind polymers!
From climate change issues to real solutions: Here’s our quarterly check-in
The second quarter of 2023 was as busy as ever at Made of Air. We launched new educational content about climate issues - because sometimes creating awareness is as important as creating new materials. We also welcomed our new chair of the board - shout-out to Avra! Our CEO Allison participated in The Klosters Forum in Switzerland, where she discussed pressing environmental challenges with global thought leaders. Our team also (net)-zeroed in on abatement curves and worked with our customers to help them lower Scope 3 emissions.
Why climate change mitigation is so complicated and carbon offsets aren’t enough
Climate change is complicated, but in our new video and blog series we try to answer the most important questions in an easy-to-understand way. To do that, we asked our CTO and Co-founder, Daniel, to help. From this first installment of the series, you can learn why we haven’t solved climate change (yet), why carbon capture isn’t enough, and why planting trees won’t solve every issue.
We have a new chair of the board!
We have exciting news! We're thrilled to share that Avra van der Zee, the COO of Elemental Excelerator, is now our chair of the board. To celebrate this milestone, she and Allison sat down to talk about our work together, how Avra became part of our team, and what we can do to fight climate change.
Learn about Made of Air in under a minute
Companies are struggling with their Scope 3 emissions, while putting biochar into materials can radically decarbonize industries. This is what we're working on with our unique smart coating technology. Because replacing only 10% of global plastics with biochar would remove 3 gigatons of CO2 from the atmosphere per year.
R&D breakthrough, moving, & fundraising - the new Quarterly check-in is here!
In the first quarter of 2023 we had a research breakthrough, moved our office to a new location, and worked extensively with our customers to better understand how they plan to mitigate their Scope 3 emissions in their supply chains instead of buying offsets. If you'd like to learn more, you can now watch our third Quarterly check-in with our CEO, Allison!
The second episode of Made of Air's Quarterly check-in is here!
In the last quarter of 2022, we’ve seen a lot of the momentum we’ve built up over the year, and all the planning we did come to the first results. We’ve filed a new patent, worked on trials, taken significant steps toward new sales, and kicked off a new project. Watch our second Quarterly check-in with our CEO, Allison, to learn more about our latest milestones.
“The year we moved mountains” – Looking back at 2022
This year was one of the most important in Made of Air’s history. We signed meaningful partnerships, opened our R&D facility, and doubled the size of our team. We also did the critical groundwork to deliver our product at scale in 2023.
Carbon Lab, our playground for fighting climate change
Besides our headquarters, we have another unique location in Berlin: our R&D and product development facility, Carbon Lab. Scientists here create and test new materials to help reverse climate change. As a startup at the intersection of material science and carbon sequestration, the research carried out at the lab is among our most important activities.
We're launching the Quarterly check-in, our new video series
We're excited to announce our new video series, Quarterly check-in, where we share the most important MOA-news from the last three months! This summer was rather busy for us, so don't miss out the first episode, in which our CEO, Allison talks about awards, grants, our new material and more.
From waste to reversing climate change: This is what we do at MOA
From wood waste to biochar and carbon-negative compounds: that’s the revolutionary process developed by Made of Air. We create materials that can replace traditional high emitters like fossil plastics and aluminum in the built environment and consumer goods.
